Three Fundamental Breathing Skills

BREATHING

1.Forward Breathing (use for relaxation and meditation)
  • Breathing in, push belly out (2 counts - one and two and...)
  • Breathing out, relax belly, letting it retracts naturally (4 counts)
  • Rest (1 count)
2.Reverse (use to get energized quickly)
  • Breathing in, pull belly in, chest up (2 counts - one and two and...)
  • Breathing out, relax belly, letting it sink naturally (4 counts)
  • Rest (1 count)
3.Circular (use for athletic activities, i.e. running. ALSO for oxygenation of the body while lying down as in Holotropic Breathing (Stan Grof MD). If you have insomnia, circular breathing can bring you to deep sleep within 10 minutes. Learn more at breathing101.info
  • Breathing in STRONGLY, belly out naturally, chest up naturally (2 counts - one and two and...)
  • Breathing out, LETTING GO EASILY
  • NO REST - no gap between breathing in and breathing out
